The region is made up of the mainland, and several keys of shore accessed by bridge. The mainland is home to the areas theatre and arts district and this is a thriving area with loads of bars, restaurants and shops to keep you busy, a particular highlight here is the weekly farmers market held every Saturday morning. Palm Avenue has loads of retro style shops and galleries and you can see many local artists in action in this area.

Lido Key and St Armands is an exclusive area full of fine dining choices and boutique shopping. South Lido park is great with loads of trails and excellent views of the ocean this park is a perfect picnic destination. Siesta Key has a beach that was once described as the finest whitest sand beach in the world and that description is pretty accurate, great snorkelling and water sport options in the crystal clear water make this a paradise for all sea and beach lovers. Casey Key is an away from it all destination, no large hotel chains just sun sea sand and palm trees. Venice is a cosy seaside town at the bottom end of the keys and again has a low key atmosphere, with a great pier and excellent shops and restaurants it is also a great place to visit.

Manasota key is as far away from the hustle and bustle as you can get, access is by a small road that few people explore and this leads you to this natural delight. Manatees are amongst the local residents here and Manasota is a nature lovers dream with a variety of wildlife flora and fauna.
